Has a surreal echo to it – the tree feel ultra-realistic, like it belongs there and doesn’t belong there at the same time. Great use of colour tones and heavy blacks to create that old-master painterly feel… The receding perspective draws the eye towards then behind the tree – I think that’s what makes it feel slightly hallucinatory.
